Not a substitute for a background check
Onfido confirms who someone is (document plus biometric). It does not check for criminal records, employment history, education, or motor vehicle records. If you need a workforce background check, pair Onfido with a vendor that runs criminal records (Checkr, Sterling, HireRight, etc.) or pick a vendor that bundles both.
The Entrust acquisition
Entrust acquired Onfido in April 2024. Pricing is now negotiated through Entrust enterprise contracts rather than the standalone Onfido pricing model that existed pre-acquisition.
