Why this site exists
Procurement teams researching background check cost typically hit a wall: ten of the fifteen leading vendors do not publish per-check rates publicly, and the five that do bury the relevant numbers under marketing copy. Third-party comparison sites republish unattributed rates that often disagree with the vendor's own page. We built this site to close that gap with a strict provenance rule: every dollar figure must trace to a vendor's own published page, fetched on a known date, and quote-only vendors are explicitly labelled rather than fabricated.

We are independent of every vendor listed. No affiliate links. No sponsored placements.
Editorial standards
- No vendor sponsorships. No vendor pays for placement in the calculator, the matrix, or the per-vendor dossiers.
- No affiliate links. Vendor URLs go to the vendor's pricing page or sales contact, not to an affiliate redirector.
- No email capture. No newsletter signup, no download-the-PDF gate, no demo request form.
- Quarterly re-verification. Every vendor source is re-fetched at least once per quarter.
- Quote-only is honest. Ten of fifteen vendors covered here hide pricing. We label that openly and do not republish inferred rates.
- Worked examples are labelled illustrative. Every buyer scenario on the site is labelled "(illustrative example, not a real company)" to avoid confusing analysis with case study.
- No undocumented industry benchmarks. Benchmark figures (industry-average percentages, response rates, dispute rates) are only cited when they trace to a named published dataset with a publication or verification date.
