Checkr vs GoodHire: Same Prices, Same Owner, Different Buyer
Checkr acquired GoodHire in April 2022. The per-check rates are identical at every tier. The differentiator is buyer persona and UX, not price.
Direct answer
Which costs less, Checkr or GoodHire?
Neither. Checkr and GoodHire publish identical per-check rates at every tier: Basic $29.99, Essential $54.99, Complete $89.99. The vendors are owned by the same company (Checkr acquired GoodHire in April 2022) and the pricing did not diverge after the acquisition.

How to choose
- You want an API and live in HR-tech. Pick Checkr.
- You are an owner-operator hiring fewer than 50 per year and want a clean self-serve UX. Pick GoodHire.
- You need international hiring beyond the US. Pick Checkr (GoodHire is US only).
- You need state-specific compliance modules surfaced in the UI. GoodHire markets these more prominently; Checkr handles them in API responses.
- Either choice gets the same per-check rate. The decision is buyer experience, not price.
What does not differ
- Pass-through county-court access fees ($5 to $40 per check) apply to both, billed at cost.
- Drug screening rates: Checkr publishes; GoodHire applies per-check pricing on request.
- Both are owned by Checkr Inc. since April 2022.
- Both are subject to the same FCRA dispute and adverse-action flows.
Worked example (Acme Mid-Market Co., illustrative example, not a real company)
1,000 hires per year on Essential ($54.99) plus 30% MVR uptake (Checkr only, $9.50). Same headline cost on either: $54,990. Add MVR add-on at Checkr's published rate ($2,850) and the Checkr total lands at $57,840. The same uplift would land roughly the same with GoodHire (per-request pricing) but is not transparent on the page. If MVR transparency matters, Checkr is the answer; if it does not, the cost is the same.
